Only one correction: I kicked your BUTT in that scavenger hunt! I had to have been at least fifteen thousand points ahead. In fact, I'm pretty sure Darius just gave up counting my points when he realized how far ahead I was and that there was no mathematical possibility of you gaining on my score ;)
Just kidding.
Glad to see Snaggy get the love and attention he deserves. Merry Christmas!
Hey man, thanks for the props on the Dukes. I think that there's no better destiny for any toy than to be added to your collection. If they ever make Toy Story 4 you should be in it.
The paint the bottom of the feet thing must have gone nation wide. I used to play Star Wars with my babysitter's kid and all of his were painted with red nail polish. I still find some of my figures that turns out are his. So I guess it didn't work that well.
It's okay Reis. I forgive you and can understand you wishing to forget the sound thrashing I heaped upon you.
Actually I may have only won by a point or two, and that point may have been in the search for 'a picture of Baroness punching either Lady Jay or Scarlett.'
I couldn't find either, so I drew a picture of Baroness punching BOTH Lady Jay and Scarlett and linked Darius to it.
I like to think stooping to that level of scavenger hunt manipulation won me the game; a fact I am quite proud of ;)
Kaizar - Thanks, man! You can be damn sure that I'll never be letting go of this one!
Malcom - Is your collection complete? All 96?
Hellions - Maybe you just got them in a trade? yeah, that's it... a trade... ;)
Bubbashelby - You should be proud! You are a ruthless competitor! I remember the one that I stumbled on was the Fisher Price Adventure People figure that wore blue shorts. Couldn't find one!
Yes, all 96. No variations like different color snakes or small head Han etc, just one of every figure. Just missing a Zuckuss gun and need to replace a few repro weapons.
I think I found a great way to display them. I saw a pretty sweet custom display case on a forum. I might try to build one.

Wow, that's a long link, for some reason the picture is sideways. Now I have to try and figure how to build one.
Congratulations Reis! Some people will never be able to understand the feeling of sheer joy that a collector feels when he finds his "holy grail." I've been fortunate enough to have had the experience a couple of times in my life, and it was fun to watch you experience yours. Bubba Shelby is a great guy to pass that figure along to you and I'm sure kharma will repay him double (maybe Harley Quinn will show up on his doorstep on Christmas Eve.) ;)
Holy grail! No pun intended. If jealousy has a color, it must be blue. It's one of the few figures missing from my collection. It is so awesome that he is now in your collection and what a great history for that toy.
Just caught this for the first time. That's fantastic that Bubba sent that to you and fantastic that you now have it in your collection. I've been kind of down on collecting lately (it seems like the more you get, the less special it can be) but THIS is what collecting is all about... the memories, the stories, the hunt. I still have my blue Snags from 1978. I was kind of like the kid that tried to trade his away. I kind of hated mine since he wasn't the "official" Snaggletooth. Now, of course, I'm grateful to still have him. Great post.
Here's the story of my blue Snaggletooth, if you haven't seen it...
Too awesome Reis congrats! And yeah Bubba is the man he hooked me up with a Bucky O'Hare figure i was looking for just a great guy.

ReplyDeleteThat was past awesomeness.
ReplyDeletethat ROCKS! he IS the holy grail of star wars, no doubt! that Bubba's a clever one- wins all kinds of contests ALL the time :D
ReplyDeleteAwesome!
ReplyDeleteThat figure has a pretty storied past...beyond the Kenner flip-flop.
Thanks for sharing it. ^_^
Love hearing stories like that...lol
Thanks, Jboy!
ReplyDeleteBubba - Ha! That's right, I forgot. You STOMPED me in that contest. ;)
Liko - I meant it, too! I never thought I'd see those Dukes figures and to this day, I still never have except for the ones you sent me! :)
Thanks, Jamdin!
Super-Duper - I know. Now watch him win the Action Figure Nativity contest, too. ;)
Glad you liked it, Darth!
OMG....Congrats, sir!! Hold onto it! I feel blessed just for being able to watch it on video instead of semi-decent pics on the Web.
ReplyDeleteThe eyes are rather unnerving though...they remind me of a short story I read a while ago ("Chac Mool", by Carlos Fuentes). Creepy.
Congrats! Again! =D
Wow, great gift for you. Post pics of your vintage collection when its completed. I'm still trying to find the best way to display mine.
