Ghostbusters Pops!

Out of all of the toys I've designed since joining the Funko team, these Ghostbusters Pops may be my absolute favorite. I know everyone has seen these all over the web but I'm feeling a little braggy.

Also, this post is actually my way of testing out the Blogger app on iPad. Who knows, maybe it'll help me blog more. ;)

Now to test this "insert picture" button...

Okay, now to launch this bad boy and see how it looks.

The Papercraft Star Wars That Never Was!

Just clearing out my desk for the big move (Funko is moving to a larger facility) and I came across this mock-up for a papercraft Darth Vader that we pitched a while back, but was never produced. I thought he turned out pretty cute. Too bad he'll remain one-of-a-kind!

My Big Bang Theory Blind Box Figures Are On Their Way!

Hail fellow Hordytes!

I just wanted to take a quick second to share some pics of Funko's upcoming Big Bang Theory blind box figures that I worked on, that are hitting stores very soon.

This was a tricky project (much trickier than The Walking dead figures) because it was hard to capture the characters' likenesses using minimal facial features and compressing it all into a 2.75" tall figure. And even thought there were moments when this project made me want to tear my hair out (if I had any, that is), I couldn't be happier with the end result.

So, enjoy the sneak peek! Bazinga!

Braggity Brag Brag! My Walking Dead Funko Blind Box Figures Are Officially Announced!

Hail fellow Hordytes!

Please pardon my moment of shameless braggery, but Funko has finally released images of the Walking Dead Blind Box series that I designed.

I ain't gonna lie, I'm pretty effin' proud of these and can't wait for them to hit stores.

The pre-sales are phenomenal, so we're already expecting a series 2.

It has always been a dream of mine to design and develop an entire toy line and to see these little guys come to life (or "un-life" I suppose) is quite frankly blowing my mind.

Enjoy the pics if you haven't already seen them.

Leage of Extraordinary Bloggers Post: Star Trek!

I've managed to find about 10 minutes to squeeze in a quick post for my favorite weekly feature (that I miss dearly), and this week's assignment is simply titled Star Trek.

Unfortunately, I have never been a fan of Star Trek. Despite my penchant for green women, Star Trek has never really impressed me.

The original series bored me as a kid, the Next Generation stuff was even worse (and it was crammed down my throat thanks to a Trekker roommate), and pretty much all of the movies were lame-o (although Wrath of Khan had its moments).

However, I did honestly enjoyed the latest reboot movie, and look forward to the new one. So I guess my distaste for Star Trek is 100%.

Still, I wracked my brain trying to think of something Trek-ish that I could post, and the only thing that I could come up with is a quick pic of the only remotely Star Trek related collectibles I own; my Captain Snoopy and Woodspock Funko Wacky Wobblers...

And I gotta be honest, I only have these because I'm a Peanuts fan.

But that just goes to show how powerful the legacy of Star Trek is; When a person who actively avoids and is inherently repulsed by a certain franchise and he still ends up with at least a couple of collectibles on his shelf touch by the very thing he tried to avoid. Star Trek, whether I like it or not, is everywhere.

Live Long and Prosper.

Zombie Captain America Custom Funko Pop!

Hey guys! I just wanted to share a quick shot of my latest custom Funko Pop. This time I whipped up a Zombie Captain America from the Marvel Zombies graphic novel.

Hope you all dig him!

By the way, if you haven't read the Marvel Zombies books, I strongly suggest that you remedy that as soon as possible. They're tons of fun!

Things Are Gettin' Kinda Sketchy Around Here...

Hey, kids! Just thought I'd take a quick moment to share some art. If you can call it that.

Since starting at Funko, I've quickly developed this urge to see just about every pop culture character I can think of in Pop! form. Unfortunately, things like licensing issues, low collector interest or whatnot keep us from being able to officially make them.

Also, time is an issue. I don't have the time to design full digital renderings of every Pop! that pops (no pun intended) into my head, so I've started carrying a sketchbook with me for the sole purpose of just getting the rough ideas out of my noodle and onto some paper.

Each of these sketches has only taken me around 10 minutes or so to draw, so I admit they are rather sloppy, but I thought it would be fun to share anyway.

Hope you dig 'em. I'm sure there will be more in the future.

Again, I must stress that these are just sketches that I did for fun! Just because I sketched them, that doesn't mean that Pops of these character are or are not coming out one day. If I don't say that, the rumor mill will start rolling unecessarily. And we can't have that.

See ya!

It's Batman the Barbarian!

Just wanted to share a little Funko Pop! custom I worked on over the weekend. Hope you all dig it!

Oh SNAP! I Got Interviewed on DailyDead.com!

Hey gang! Braghgity-brag time here, so bear with me.

I recently did an interview with Daily Dead about the upcoming Funko Walking Dead releases and answered a lot of questions about the toy making process.

Thought you all might dig reading it.

Read the full interview HERE.

And here's a page from our 2012 Toy Fair catalog showing off the Walking Dead blind box figures I designed. Pretty damn excited about this series.

We've seen the preliminary sculpts, but I can't wait to see them painted...

Okay. Bragging done. (For now.)

Deadpool Unmasked! Funko Pop Style...

Whaddup, fellow Hordytes! I just wanted to take a quick second to show off the painted sample we just got in from our factory of the long-awaited (by some people, somewhere in the world, I'm sure) unmasked Deadpool Pop! figure.

This will be an exclusive (can't remember where, sorry), but from what I've been reading on the forums and whatnot, the unmasked version of the "merc with a mouth" has been on many Funko Pop! collectors' wish lists. I just realized how ironic it is that he doesn't have a mouth in this form.

The body was designed by long-time Funko designer, Rob Schwartz, I just designed the new head.

Also, I know it looks a little sloppy in the pic, but that's often the case with hand-painted samples. The final piece will be much more crisp and precise.

Anyway, I was just feeling a little showy-offy. Hope you dig him!

One, Two, Funko Movie Monster Pops Are Coming for You...

Three, four, I'll probably collect many more...

Just thought I'd take a quick second to show off a few more Funko Pops that I have added to the collection lately. Who thought these little serial killers, mass murders, burn victims and cannibals could be so cute?

And for those of you that want a peek into what I do for a living, check out this little piece on Funko that recently aired on a local TV news magazine show. You even get to see the back of my head!

Top 5 Friday! My Top 5 Favorite Wacky Wobblers!

Yeah, yeah, yeah. I know. I'm already posting about Funko products too much. But the truth is, I had this other much more in-depth idea for this week's Top 5 Friday, but quite frankly, I've just run out of time and only have a few minutes to take some quick pics, throw them up on the blog and call it good.

But don't let the fact that I'm phoning it in this week make you think that I don't love these Wacky Wobblers to pieces. Because I do.

So here they are...

1. Mr. T - This Wacky Wobbler pities fools and don't wanna hear no jibber-jabber.

2. Sugar Bear - Not "Golden Bear" who sells Super Golden Crisp. This is Sugar Bear, who sells Sugar Crisp. I always hated that they changed the name of the cereal. That's like calling crack cocaine "Smoky Pebbles".

3. Darth Vader - I love this one because it's Darth Vader.

4. The Munsters - I have a Grandpa Munster as well, but no Marylin yet. I always wished this was my family when I was a kid.

5. The Monster Cereals - You guys probably saw this one coming, right? And yes, I do have the Yummy Mummy Wobbler, but am still missing Fruit Brute. Still, I got the three kings.

That's it for this week! I promise I'll put more work into it next week! Really. I will.
