The 2011 Action Figure Nativity Contest is HERE!

Welcome one and all to the 2011 Action Figure Nativity Contest!

This is the first year I'm hosting an Action Figure Nativity contest and the call out to my dork horde brethren did not go unheard, with so many of you stepping up and really delivering some incredible, zany, original, brilliant and all-around awesome nativity scenes made up entirely of toys and action figures.

Like I said, this is a contest, and the winners (1st, 2nd & 3rd places) will be determined by the readers via the little poll on the right-hand side of the blog. Just click the button next to the name of your favorite and let your geek voice be heard! Voting ends on Dec. 26th at midnight and the winners will be announced later that day (although the results will be obvious, just look at the poll). Prizes will be mailed out shortly thereafter, once I get everyone's addresses.

I would like to sincerely thank each and every one of your who participated! Have a Merry Christmas and good luck in the contest!

Now, without further ado, here are your 2011 Action Figure Nativity entires...

(Listed as Lason L. on the poll. I made a typo and now can't change it. Oops!)

And finally, my 2011 Action Figure Nativity! Although I'm not eligible for the contest, I just had to make one of my own (this being the 3rd year in a row that I've made one, thus becoming a personal tradition for me), and share it with you all.

As you can see, this year the baby Jesus is being played by my favorite yellow Lego spaceman, Joseph and Mary are played by Indy and Marion, the shepherds (all white-bearded chaps) are Obi-Wan Kenobi, Uncle Jesse and that wizard dude from Dungeons & Dragons, the three wise men are Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler (with his gift of a football, natch), Frankenstein's monster (with a copy of Diary of a Wimpy Kid and Terry Pratchett's Guards! Guards!) and X-ray Man (with his gift of a giant slab of meat), and the animals of the scene being played by Snoopy, Woodstock, Garfield and, in a sense, Pookie.

Again, thanks to all of you who sent in pics and thanks in advance to all of you who take the time to vote for your favorite! Good luck to you all and MERRY CHRISTMAS!

The 2011 Action Figure Nativity Contest!

Hey there fellow toy lovers and collector geeks! December (my absolute favorite month of the year) is almost here, and you know what that means... Christmas!

And to celebrate the Yuletide Season, I thought it would be fun to host a little holiday picture contest.

As some of you may remember, for the last couple of years, I have posted a classic Nativity scene (that scene where baby Jesus is all lying in a manger and stuff and there's a bunch of animals and sheep herders and kings with incense and whatnot hanging around), only made up entirely of action figures and various other toys.

Here they are...

2009

2010

Well, I thought that not only should I make my own Nativity scene again this year, but I should also invite you all to make your own as well (last year, we had a few of you get in on the action and it was epic).

But then I thought, why not make it really fun and vote on a winner and the winner gets something? Even better!

So here it is...

ACTION FIGURE NATIVITY 2011 CONTEST!
Hosted by Hey! Look at My Toys!

Just make your very own Nativity scene out of various toys and action figures and email a good sized pic (at least 1000 pixels wide) of it to reisobrien[at]gmail[dot]com, with the words 2011 NATIVITY in the subject line along with you name and a link to your blog no later than...

DECEMBER 18th

That gives you a whole month from today to get this done and sent in!

I'll post them all right here on the blog and include a poll with everyone's name for people to vote on their favorite. You can also post your Nativity scene on your blog as well along with a link to here so your readers can vote for you. The person with the most votes will win the grand prize of a big, fat bag of brand new toys (sponsored by yours truly) and the runner up will receive one brand new toy (also sponsored by yours truly).

I have no idea what the prizes will be yet, but I'll try to make them something cool. And, no, I will not be eligible to win, since I am hosting this.

The winners will be announced on December 26th!

So voters will only have one week to vote for their favorite.

Your Nativity scene will need action figures to play the parts of baby Jesus, Mary, Joseph, the three kings, some shepherds, an angel and some barn animals. And maybe a little drummer boy.

Feel free to spread this around! The more the merrier!

Now, go get your Birth of a Savior on!

Are You a Winner?

This is just a quick message to the 9 lucky souls who chimed in the other day for the Hot Wheels give-away I hosted. I was trying to find an easy way to get everyone's mailing addresses, but the easiest way (for me) is to just email me.

The winners are:

  • Super-Duper Toy Box (Batmobile)
  • PLANET BIERWAGEN (Time Machine)
  • Jerbeh (Time Machine)
  • Malcom (Time Machine)
  • Mr. Kuffel (Time Machine)
  • Kaizar (Time Machine)
  • jboypacman (Batmobile)
  • DERF (Batmobile)
  • Tom Freak (Batmobile)

If you guys could send me your addresses to: ackshunphigyer [at] yahoo [dot] com, I'll send those out asap! I'll probably mail them off Monday (or sooner if I get everyone's address quickly).

I know that I probably have the addresses for a few of you (being fellow toy traders already), but please send it to me anyway, just to make sure.

Congrats to you all! I'll be keeping my eye out for the next give-away!
