Oh No! It's a Food Fight!

What is this? Another birthday present? How nice!

Waitacottonpickinminute! It's Admiral Bacon and Commandant Tofu! And they're trying to usurp the spot of "Awesome-est Food Related Toys in Reis' Collection"! Those dastardly fiends!

But Captain Corndog and Monsieur Broccoli won't give up without a fight! Take that! (KAPOW!) And that! (KER-PUNCH!) Oh, this certainly doesn't bode well for Admiral Bacon and Commandant Tofu!

"Let that be a lesson, kids! What that lesson is, I hove no idea. But you better have learned something!"

The 2010 Action Figure Nativity!

Earlier today, I spotted this great improvised Nativity scene that our good friend Bubbashelby made and posted to his Tumblr, which you can see HERE. Seeing this reminded me of the action figure Nativity scene I made and posted on that old blog (Gleek Orthopedics, or something like that), which looked a lot like this...

(Click all the pics to make mucho biggo)

Then, I thought, "I gotta make another one!" But I didn't have a lot of time and I gave away my Playmobil Christmas set, including all the animals, and so I ran down to the garage and quickly made a manger out of cardboard. I brought it upstairs, stuck a sparkly snowflake ornament on it and filled it with the usual Nativity cast.

And here it is, folks, the 2010 Action Fingure Nativity!

Awwww... it's the story of Jesus...

Above, we see the three wise men, played by Crystar, who brought the newborn savior his first cellphone, Ringlerun the Wizard, bringing a ninja throwing star and a bag of Jelly Bellies and Dastan, who brought the infant a pair of snow goggles.

The three shepherds, Flynn, Snake Eyes and Chewbacca brought their herd of glow-in-the-dark Japanese dinosaur skeletons to witness the birth of the savior.

And here we have the baby Jesus himself, played by a vintage Tomy Rascal Robot and looked over by Han Solo and his mother, the sainted Wonder Woman. Look how peaceful the child looks, wrapped in the warmth of Mork's space egg.

And looking over it all, is an agnel of the Lord, who also happens to be from Mars, and has a crossbow.

And that's what Christmas is all about, Charlie Brown. :) MERRY CHRISTMAS, EVERYONE!

Home Made Birthday Bats!

Hi gang! First off, sorry for the lack of posts. The holidays are always busy and between shopping, baking, hanging out with friends and of course, the fact that I work three jobs, I haven't had a lot of time to blog. And I definitely haven't had time to record another video.

However, I do have tons of new loot to blog about, and I imagine that some more will be coming on Christmas morning, so rest assured that I'll be back to our regularly scheduled blogging in no time, and we're in no danger of running out of stuff to gawk at. :)

That having been said, I wanted to take a quick second to show off a birthday present that my good friend and fellow D&D gamer made for me. You see, he's taken up making these adorable little hand-stitched felt dolls, and I had seen one he was making for one of his co-workers, a Joker doll, and I immediately became ravenously covetous and had to have one of my own. Little did I know, he had already made one for me and gave it to me on my birthday this past Saturday.

Needless to say, I was stunned, and grateful and so happy that I squealed like a little girl.

So, without further ado, here's my very own hand made Batman doll, by my good buddy, Ryan...

How frickin' adorable is that!? I love it beyond words and thank the gods that I have such great and generous friends.

And just to prove how far Ryan went to make this for me; He hates Batman with a passion! So imagine the will power it took to get through sewing every stitch on his most hated superhero.

Thank you Ryan. You efforts are immensely appreciated.

Thanks for reading, everyone! More posts coming soon!

I Find Your Lack of Candy Canes Disturbing...

I had completely forgotten about this little cartoon I did a couple of years ago. Funny that I should unearth it only a couple of days before Christmas. Merry Christmas to all my fellow Star Wars nerds!

Batmans # 81-86!

Welcome to the final post of "Derf Week"! As mentioned earlier, my cyber-homie Freddy P (aka Derf) of Derf's Domain, sent me a killer box of toys, and it was so big that I had to devote an entire week to show it all off (and even then I'm holding a few things back for later). So, here's the final post, in which I add six Batmans to the mighty Batman shrine!

Check 'em out...

First up, we see a couple of classic Justice League style Batmans! I love these long-eared bastards! What I really liked about these two figures, is that they are both almost identical except that the one on the right has a more bluish-gray outfit and elbow and knee joints. Mmmmm... tasty articulation....

Next we have "I Love Straps & Buckles" Batman from the Animated series line. Actually, I think he came with some sort of parachute apparatus originally, but now he just looks like he finished a Houdini-esque escape. Next to him is a mystery Batman figure in that he is exactly identical to a figure I already have, which came in a McDonald's Happy Meal back in the heyday of the animated series, only that this figure is completely static with no articulation at all. Anyone know what this figure is from?

Here we have "Goth Metal" Batman! The '90s were an odd time for action figures, weren't they? Everything came pre-posed and overly muscles and all angry looking and pointy like a Ministry song played on a chainsaw. Look how grimdark Bats is here! He's got Trent Reznor wings and actually making a "scratch your face off" hand gesture! Angry, angry bats...

And finally, a beautiful figure from the Batman Returns line! I don't remember the exact name of this figure, but I remember having it at one point. This was kind of the beginning of the gazillion repaints of Bats, usually with some odd contraption clipped to him. I mean, did this happen in the movie? No! But it didn't matter to they toy companies, they just wanted to sell more toys. And I didn't mind back then, either. It just meant more Batman figures to collect. And then I realized that they were going to keep doing this a thousand times over forever and I went, "Ah, screw it." Still, this one is a beauty and really brings back memories.

Well, that's officially numbers 81 through 86! And 87 and 88 are already on the shelf, since I added the hanging Batman that you all saw in the last Random Toy Pic and the tiny little Batman that was on the pen (I carefully took him off so he could be with his brethren).

So, big crazy super duper thanks again to Derf for sending me such awesome toys! I'm currently building up a toy package to send back to you, just gotta hunt down a couple of things. ;)

Thanks for reading, gang and we'll be back to our normally scheduled blogging next week! OH MY GOD! CHRISTMAS IS ALMOST HERE!!!!

The Super Powers Haul!

I have to admit, I've had a pretty damn good week for toy hauls. Between a couple of personal purchases and some killer gifts from fellow bloggers (more on those later), I've racked up a decent pile of toys in just a seven day period.

So, today we're going to take a look at one of my purchases I made from some dude on the 4chan toy boards (a site I do not recommend for the faint of heart or the easily offended; this site is sort of like the Mos Eisley Cantina of toy message boards - a wretched hive of scum and villainy). Every now and then, I spot something worthwhile (ie. cheap enough to take the risk of getting ripped off) in one of the site's BST (buy sell trade) threads, and such was the case last week when one seller was giving up five Kenner Super Powers figures for $10!

One Paypal transfer later and those babies were mine! They arrived on Tuesday and I thought it'd be fun to take a look at them. Here we go...

Above, we see what ten clams can get you on the interwebs; a sort of weird bastardization of the Justice League, in a bizzaro world where Superman wears a blue cape, Hawkman has no wings and the Riddler is a good guy.

Here is Blue Cape Superman! I believe he is actually wearing the cape originally belonging to Red Tornado, but I could be wrong. I only had a couple of Super Powers figures as a kid, since they came out when I was 12 and starting to enter that age when it was less than cool to be into toys. Now I'm all grown up (ha!) and can buy them all if I want to, and I just may do that.

Here's the one figure I would have spent $10 on alone; Wonder Woman! I've always loved this figure and think it is one of the most charming female 3 3/4" figures ever made. There's just something about this figure that truly captures the essence of WW in her purest "Superfriends" form, which is often how I remember her best.

Next up is Wingless Hawkman! Crap. Anyone got a spare set of wings for this guy? He's just not the same without them. At least he still has his mace, so if anyone gives him static about his lack of wings, they'll get a face full of iron spikes!

This is an Asian man in green underwear.

And finally, the haul consisted of one DC Comics Super Heroes Riddler! He's from the series of toys that came out later by Toy Biz in 1989. But, I've got all these heroes, so what am I going to do with one measly little Bat-villain?

I know! I'll team him up with more Bat-villains that arrived in the mail the next day from my good cyber-homeboy and fellow blogger, Derf from Derf's Domain! Here we see just a scratching of the surface of the toy-filled care package that he sent me, which I'll go into much more detail next Friday!

And what did the Joker and Penguin bring with them? Another DC Comics Super Heroes Riddler still sealed on the card! This one is going up on the display case, while the loose Riddler is about to wreak havoc on Gotham City!

I hope Blue Cape Superman and Wingless Hawkman get there in time to save the day!

Stay tuned!

Hey! Look at My Tumblr!

Because I don't waste enough time on the internet, I thought it would be a good idea to start a Tumblr page. It's basically me posting anything I find interesting on the web. And, no shocker here, most of the stuff I post is pretty geeky.

So, I wanted to officially invite all of you to start following my Tumblr, because I only have one follower and that's Bubbashelby (who also has a Tumbler page), and I need some more peeps.

It's called My Brain Goes Pew! Pew! Pew! and it looks like this...

Now back to our regularly scheduled blogging.

My Star Wars Lite Brite Brutes!

Waaaaayyyy back when I was running this other geeky blog, I had started posting these little Lite Brite style drawings I was making of Star Wars characters, all done on this free app on my iPhone. I had originally planned to do as many of these as possible, but then the blog went the way of the dodo and I never did get around to making any more of them.

I had started calling them Lite Brite Brutes. Whatever.

So, I came across these again in a folder and thought, "Hey! i need to make some more of these!" And since a lot of my time for making art has gotten sucked up by making art for money (I know that this blog has been idle for a bit, but I assure you I'm drawing every day. Just nothing that I can post here until it hits stores or gets published.), I thought it may be fun to make some more of these since they only take a few minutes each.

I plan to get back to the CARZ! thing soon, too. Anyway, here are all of the Star Wars Lite Brite Brutes I've made so far! Enjoy and look forward for more to come! (Click each image to view slightly bigger.)

And coming soon... The Empire Strikes Back Lite Brite Brutes!
