I remember seeing this book a couple of times as a kid, but I don't think i actually owned it. maybe a cousin or babysitter had a copy. I came across it recently in a used book store and was immediately taken with the illustrations, with the animal's faces and the moody scenery (like the image of the silhouetted sleigh under the moonlight).
This was originally published in 1964, but this copy is a reprint from 1981.
Now, the front page credits a J.P. Miller with the illustrations, but if some of those animals don't look like Richard Scarry characters, then I'm the Grinch.
And I'm not.
